THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS / part 3.
Aphorisms
by Marina Aristo Markovic
Foreword
In this third installment of The Edge of the Abyss, I invite you once again to the precipice of thought, where sharp, concise reflections cut through the chaos of society, revealing the strange and often absurd realities that we navigate every day. Through the lens of aphorisms I offer you a satirical yet thought-provoking commentary on the human condition, laced with humor and layered with deeper insights.
The aphorisms in this collection tackle everything from survival instincts to the contradictions that govern our social structures. They expose the paradoxes we often fail to see and question the systems that shape our lives with razor-sharp precision. Each aphorism is both a mirror and a magnifying glass: reflecting the flaws of the world while also magnifying the absurdity of our attempts to make sense of it.
From the depths of economic inequality to the absurdity of bureaucratic rules, these aphorisms offer sharp insights that will make you laugh, cringe, and think. They are reminders of the complexity and absurdity of the world we live in and the fragile nature of our existence within it.
As you journey through these reflections, remember that sometimes the most uncomfortable truths are the ones that make us grow.
So, step to the edge with us. It’s a fine line between humor and insight, but perhaps, as I suggest, it’s the only line worth walking.
III. SOCIETY AND SURVIVAL
* Since he has nothing to eat, he’s lost the will to live. It killed his appetite.
* The most wanted man is the kind that doesn’t exist.
* We’ve reached the edge of the abyss. We’re first!
* Everything went with the flow until the information started to leak.
* With rules, the most important thing is that they’re clear, so people know what not to follow.
* Some of our actions require serious analysis, others require analysis of seriousness.
* We’ve found a solution to poverty: those who don’t remember their last meal, we’ll treat for dementia.
* Workers, now that you’ve won your rights, shut up and work!
* Smart people learn from others’ mistakes. Even fools can learn from ours, if they’re smart enough.
* We solved unemployment and illiteracy, we hired the illiterate to teach in schools.
* Not all smart people have left, but all fools have stayed.
* It's hard to take a step forward unless you crawl.
